Built with E Ink’s color display technology, the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition brings comics, magazines, children’s books, and illustrated novels to life in a way a regular Kindle can’t. And right now, you can buy the company’s first color e-reader at Amazon at its all-time low of $224.99 ($55 off) as a part of its ongoing Book Sale, which lasts through April 28th. Best Buy is also matching this price.
The Kindle Colorsoft is nearly identical to the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, featuring the same seven-inch screen with 300ppi for viewing black-and-white content. Unlike the Paperwhite, the Colorsoft displays color — though at half the resolution and with more subdued hues compared to, say, an iPad or a dedicated tablet. Even so, the screen is still vibrant when compared to rival ebook readers like the Kobo Libra Colour.
Like the Paperwhite, the Colorsoft is also IPX8-rated for water resistance and features an auto-adjusting front light for comfortable nighttime reading. You also get wireless charging in addition to a USB-C port, 32GB of storage, and a completely ad-free experience. Sadly, it doesn’t include stylus support or physical page-turn buttons like the Kobo Libra Colour, but those missing features are a bit easier to overlook at this discounted price – especially if your digital library consists mainly of Kindle books.
